A year after its release, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office has recently validated a patent of the Cupertino company. It is a concept of "iChaussures" shoes obsolescence indicator to identify their level of degradation.
The idea behind these shoes is based on an intelligent sensor to fit under the base, specifically in the heel. Also an accelerometer and a pedometer, a small device that has a few components: a processor connected to a pressure sensor, an alarm similar to a diode, a battery and a small speaker. When connected to an Apple device via Bluetooth, different sensor sends information to its owner: the distance traveled, number of steps, number of stairs and crossed above the wear of the shoe. To know this life, some information such as age, weight or size of the owner are required. Thus, when the shoes arrive at the end of their use, the user will be notified on their smartphone or tablet using its alert through the dedicated application.
Only a concept, the sensor would be available for classic shoes and sports shoes.
